We ended the week on a positive note! 🥳
Hermione returned to school on Wednesday, supported by the antibiotics, and it was clear she was happy to be back with her teachers and friends.
Her little self-soothe noises of humming came back, which is a sure-fire sign she is feeling better and much more contented.
Within a day of returning to school, she was chatty at home in her own little way.
She did really well at her session at Downright Special this morning: learning about cold weather and winter, and about what clothes we wear when it's cold.
The day accumulated with a birthday party for one her classmates, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself- propelling herself around the soft play with rocket fuel! 🚀😆
It was great to see her living her best life.
She's clearly relaxed with her friends, and developing those friendships has allowed her confidence to increase. She no longer seeks me out as much for reassurance to climb the equipment: she has a go, she tries, and her body works out what to do.
Yes, she definitely can't move as fast as a typical child. Sometimes she observes, but she enjoys seeing others whizz past. I think with Hermione it inspires her to keep pushing herself: to keep observing and aspiring to do the things her peers are doing.
And one day, she just gets it and does it.
I loved watching her tonight and reminding myself just how far she's come.
I'm learning to live with the fact that one day I might be frustrated and angry at the system, but the next I'm just marvelling at her enjoying her own world, and feeling inspired all over again.
Hermione grounds me; Hermione inspires me.
It's easy to get down, but days like these pick you right back up again.
And the good days and bad days: they sit side by side ❤️ xx
