Like a spluttering car, we made it to the end of half term 😆.
Hermione is so tired, it has affected her behaviour at home this last week.
She's done so well at school to keep as much focus as possible, but letting rip at home has become the norm, and now we're all T.I.R.E.D.
Random wakefulness in the night has returned. She starts with a snap of the big light on, and has a good little chit chat to herself. Silly me; I thought I'd prepped her room so there wasn't any noisy toys in there, but I forgot about the bloody robot didn't I?
I awoke to little retro 1980s robotic pips at 3.30am the other night, and I thought Alexa was being nostalgic and attending some sort of Artificial Intelligence 80s night.
I popped through and turned the light off, and told Hermione to go back to sleep as it was night-time, and she laid down, all compliant, but I knew she was having me on.
Half an hour later, we were treated to Hermione calling for Woody, our little dog, at the top of her lungs, in a lovely northern accent.
"Wooodaaay! WOOODAAAY!!!"
I don't think even Woody was up for a walk at 4am.
I surrendered and took my pillows and dressing gown to her bedroom floor, and laid there waiting for her to see my example and drop back off to sleep. I pushed through the pain of my back pleading with me as to why I wasn't sleeping on something softer.
Eventually, at about 5am, she did drop back off to sleep, but after a few nights of that unpredictable nature of her sleep, the twitch in my eye returned. You just find yourself crawling to the finish line.
So happy half term everyone: may I wish you all some restful sleep this week and time for self-care, whatever form that may be 💜.
Sleeping, eating... throwing plastic robots out of the window 😵💫😆 xx
