Suddenly stopping 😴.
That's been our theme recently 😌.
Whether that be for illness, sleepiness or when she's walking down the path to and from school 😆.
Hermione is definitely ready for a half term break and fell asleep in my arms watching Zog tonight. She rarely falls asleep in my arms now, so most of me just wanted to keep her there and drink her in 🥲.
And you do find yourself surrendering to Hermione's rhythm because she knows, and we know, when she has reached her capacity for the day 🥰😴.
Hermione loves to stop and jump over anything on the ground to and from school. She will stop exactly where she is, put her arms out behind her as if to launch, and then we have lift off! 😆.
There is a delve in the pavement near the school, which sometimes fills with rain water. She must stop and jump over this delve, and if she misses it, she goes back and restarts her steps to ensure she doesn't miss this jump.
I'm coming to realise that all these little familiarities mark out her day and make her feel secure about what's coming next and what time of day it is. She jumps over each ridge of the flags leading up to the school door. She knows this means she is about to start the school day.
I love that she finds her own markers of time, without yet having the language to describe it. The little delves, the ridges and the lines; they all hold meaning for Hermione.
I find myself suddenly stopping with her 🥲🥰.
