This weekend, the party journey continued 🥳.
Hermione has been quite the social animal 🥳😂.
But I know you'll know from previous posts, that it's not always been smooth sailing for Hermione when we visit new places, or for her to fully understand the social traditions associated with birthdays and parties.
I would worry that she wouldn't be able to enjoy these experiences, and at times, this would make me sad.
However, lately, it's like a little key has unlocked a new door in her mind.
And this new door is really, truly down to the children who are in Hermione's life.
I know the world can be a horrible place. I also know that as a parent of a child with additional needs, you can worry yourself into a pit thinking about how your child will be received in any social situation throughout their life.
But those waves of worry recede with the tide everytime we see Hermione with her friends.
The perception, care, kindness and ability to include Hermione in everything they do, constantly knocks my socks off.
I already feel she has a group walking beside her; willing to learn the way she does; adapting for her, and just wanting to have a fun friendship, like all friends do.
With permission from his mum, I've shared a photo of Hermione with one of her little friends. This lovely little boy makes Hermione belly laugh, brings toys over to her that he knows she might like, and they run and play and giggle.
Hermione shouts his name. She seeks him out, and he seeks her out.
He's so perceptive of what she might need, and they make each other happy.
It's hard to hold back from ugly crying in public when you witness these moments 😆🫣. And, bonus, I actually stood back and had a cup of tea yesterday 🙃.
Friendship is magic 🎩 ✨️ 💛 🪄
