Starting our signing journey

🌟 Throwback Thursday! 🌟

When Hermione was around six months old, we started a local baby sign class with an amazing lady called Sally.

Sally's classes were so much fun and it was really this that inspired us to keep on with the signing.

At first, we never thought Hermione would pick it up, but it is amazing what she absorbed, even at such a young age.

Her first sign was 'more' 🤩.

Each class centered around singing and signing, and we could ask for demonstrations for any key signs we needed.

Sally's classes were so calm and relaxed and we all often shared our signing success stories and our tales of sleepless nights too!

When lockdown came, Sally continued online classes for us, and this became one of the lifelines for us during those dark times.

When Hermione started to copy the actions we were all just mesmerised with how much she had taken in.

It became a little glimpse into what Hermione was and is capable of, and it felt amazing 🤩.

Sally always encouraged us to keep signing, and to keep singing with sign; even if at first it felt strange or if we couldn't remember every single sign we'd learnt. It was that encouragement that made us believe Hermione would pick it up and sign one day.

And she did.

And you hold onto folks like Sally, who believe in the same things you do and help in ways you will forever be grateful for.
